25 Celebrities You Can Find on Twitter

A few weeks ago I wrote about Twitter Dee or Twitter Dumb and not really understanding its significance. I also wrote about Erykah Badu’s boyfriend Jay Electronica posting up to the minute updates about the birth of their child. Well, I still don’t get Twitter; however, there seems to be at least 25 celebrities that do get it.

Erykah Badu and Jay Electronica Announce Birth of Baby on Twitter!

Puma and Seven, Erykah Badu’s children by rapper the D.O.C. and Andre 3000 welcomed a new baby sister yesterday. Thanks to the proud papa and first time dad Jay Electronica, fans were able to receive up to the minute updates via Twitter.com.

Interesting enough, I am sure at the same moment that their baby was being born, I was having a conversation with my good friend in London via instant messenger regarding the purpose of Twitter. I admit that online social networking is all new to me and I have not quite mastered the purpose of most site including Twitter. I have all of 8 followers on Twitter and just never seem to have time to figure it out and why I need to spend any of my precious time on the site. Based on it’s growing popularity, I thought I would join, but I just have not seen a real purpose.

For more details on the story, make sure to check out AllHipHop.com. As for Jay Electronica being Exposed to LIFE Twitter giving blow by blow updates on the birth of his daughter, NO COMMENT!

I was very fortunate to spend Saturday reliving Hip-Hop’s glory days at the ROCK THE BELLS festival. With 2008 marking the first year the ROCK THE BELLS festival will go global with four stops in Europe and one in Japan highlights of the festival include a return to the Glen Helen Pavilion in San Bernardino, CA where last year’s show sold out with a capacity crowd of 45,000 people. Although, I was back stage the entire show and was not able to enjoy the festival as a true fan due to the heat in San Bernardino, the performances I did catch were truly special. Not to mention, it was great being able to mix it up with old friends like Fat Lip (Pharcyde), Fuzzy (Los Angeles’s Power 106), Hen Gee (Ice-T), Herm & Jackie (Dub Magazine), Bri aka DJ 88 and be in the presence of others including will.I.AM (Black Eyed Peas), Rakim, and many more. As you can imagine my number one highlight was seeing NAS perform One Mic. If you love Hip-Hop and you are up to being Exposed to LIFE Music this is a must see festival.

About the Festival

Rock The Bells is an annual hip hop festival that took place in California, until just recently when it was announced that the festival will travel to multiple locations. The first festival was held in 2004, and featured a re-united Wu-Tang Clan, who performed 4 months before Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s death. ROCK THE BELLS has established itself as a world-class hip-hop platform by hosting legendary performances. The 2007 festival series included performances by a reunited Rage Against the Machine, the Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy celebrating their 20th anniversary as a band and many more. The tradition of top names and memorable performances continues in 2008 as the line-up and routing for this year’s ROCK THE BELL 2008 International festival series powered by SanDisk included hip-hop all-stars A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Nas, Mos Def, Rakim, Method Man & Redman, Raekwon & Ghostface (Cuban Linx), Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, Murs, Kidz In The Hall and the reunited The Pharcyde, and special guests. Fans will also see performances by the brightest names in the emerging electro-hip hop scene including Spank Rock, Santogold, Kid Sister, Wale, Jay Electronica and The Cool Kids with hosts B-Real of Cypress Hill and the world renowned Supernatural.
