Who Is Taz Arnold… What is Style?

Taz, Taz, Taz…

After reading Taz Manian Rebel a recent article in YRB Magazine on Taz Arnold I felt it was my duty to pass the word. See, most people do not understand style. To me, style is something you either have or you don’t. I personally have always felt that style cannot be taught. Many people may not understand Taz’s style, but I can guarantee those that do not understand likely do not have a style of their own. When you are unique and have “it”, you get “it”! Taz Arnold is one of the few guys that get’s it!

I felt compelled to comment on the YRB article because I grew up in Los Angeles during the time that Taz refers to in the article. Yes, Taz and Kanye’s current style is a part of LA’s hidden culture that has never been exposed. From Polo RL 2000, Monkey Boots, Doc Martins, Creepers, tapered Dickeys, Vans and even surfer gear such as Town and Country, OP, and Body Tap contrary to what the media has portrayed not everyone in Los Angeles grew up wearing “gangster apparel.”

I remember growing up being super popular, but at the same time teased allot because I wasn’t like the other kids that I went to school with. I was “Preppy” or “Trendy”, which was not cool if you went to an urban school. Many Trendy people grew up on the tough streets of Los Angeles, but for whatever reason were just different. We were the kids that as I like to remember it “before the times.” Many of us were the kids that were on American Bandstand as opposed to Soul Train. We were the kids dancing at local dance competitions as opposed to gang banging. We were the kids that understood the value of Vans as opposed to Nikes. Simply put, we were the kids that were not afraid to express ourselves and our style.

“A guy won’t wear shorts above his knees because he’s scared of what people think. Like who the fuck dresses for other people? Why are you spending all this money so that you can look like somebody else?”TAZ ARNOLD

I was once featured on the cover page of the Los Angeles Times calendar section wearing army fatigues, a jean shirt, a vest, Doc Martins, and my signature ponytail at the top of my head. On an episode of American Bandstand, Dick Clark asked me about my style and why was I wearing jeans with holes. In elementary I wore penny loafers and polo shirts. In Jr. high and high school, I was one of the first people to wear Tommy Hilfiger, Nautica, and Timberlands while still staying true to the trendy era wearing Creepers and Monkey Boots. I also rocked allot of Fila, Louis Vuitton, and MCM while being on some New York sh*t at the same time. I say all this to say that style cannot be taught and it is NOT about the labels… style is about CONFIDENCE. Taz Arnold has the confidence to wear what every he imagines. Taz Arnold is Exposed To LIFE STYLE… he defines HIS STYLE!

“Whether he’s rocking black wings, leopard pants, cowboy boots or eight Gucci belts, Taz Arnold has had an open mind since way back.”YRB MAGAZINE

Lady Gaga Thanks Christina Aguilera For Their Similar Style!

A while back I blogged about Rihanna possibly jacking FeFe Dobson’s (FeFe vs. Rihanna) style. Since that time, I have read several other stories involving other celebrities (i.e. Beyonce vs. Kylie, Beyonce vs. Jennifer Lopez) possibly doing the same. Well as I was cruising some of my favorite blogs, I came across yet another celeb style match off between Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera. Not to give this to much attention, I did find it interesting.

According to Lady Gaga:
“She’s such a huge star and if anything I should send her flowers, because a lot of people in America didn’t know who I was until that whole thing happened.

According to Christina Aguilera:
“This person [Lady Gaga] was just brought to my attention not too long ago.”

You be the judge and feel free to read the complete story and full quotes at Celebitchy.

Fefe Dobson is BACK! (Fefe vs. Rihanna)

It’s great to hear that Fefe Dobson has made it back on the scene after Rihanna jacked her swagger! Don’t get me wrong, I like Rhianna and further more LOVE Chrianna (Chris Brown and Rhianna couple status), but let’s be real…. everything about Rihanna is Fefe Dobson’s style!

If you don’t know who Fefe is educate yourself. If you didn’t know, Fefe Dobson’s “Watch Me Move” is the theme song to VH1’s The Cho Show.

Feel free to read all about Fefe’s story on Wikipedia. To hear the theme song for The Cho Show click here.
